Summary of Kurimate Power Plant Project

  1. First Stage: Kurimate Steam Power Plant:
  2. Kurimate steam Power Plant consist of two steam turbines 627 MW each with a total capacity of 1254 MW it is connected to the National Grid via 220.500 KV the power plant works with natural gas as primary fuel and mazout as a secondary fuel in case of emergencies.

    The steam turbines were manufactured by the Japanese company Mitsubishi; boilers were manufactured by the consortium: Babcock & Wilcox Canada/ Nova Shementobi Italy and civil works were executed by the Korean company Daylin.

    Commissioning took place as follows:

    • First Unit: July 1998.
    • Second Unit: October 1999.
  3. Second Stage: Kurimate (2) Power Plant:
  4. Consists of two gas turbines 250 M.W each, two heat recovery steam generators utilizing the exhaust heat to produce steam that operates a 250 MW Steam turbine. The plant overall capacity is 750 and works with natural gas as primary fuel and fuel oil as a secondary fuel in case of emergencies.

    The gas turbines were manufactured by Siemens Germany, the HRSG was Manufactured by the consortium CMI Belgium / Skoda Czech, steam turbine by the Japanese consortium Hitachi/ Sumitomo and civil works were executed by the consortium the Arab Contractors/ Worley Parsons America.

    Commissioning took place as follows:

    • First Simple Cycle: February 2007.
    • Second Simple Cycle: March 2007.
    • Combined Cycle: June 2009.
  5. Third Stage: Kurimate (3) Power Plant:
  6. Consists of two gas turbines 250 MW each, two heat recovery steam generators utilizing the exhaust heat to produce steam that operates a 250 MW steam turbine. The plant overall capacity is 750 MW the Power Plant is connected to the National Grid via 220 and works with natural gas as primary fuel and fuel oil as a secondary fuel in case of emergencies.

    The gas turbines were manufactured by the consortium general electric America/ techint Italy, the HRSG was manufactured by the consortium initic Spain/ CMI Belgium, steam turbine by the consortium Alstom Germany/ initic Spain and civil works were executed by the Consortium the Arab contractors/ Worley parsons America.

    Commissioning took place as follows:

    • First Simple Cycle: January 2009.
    • Second Simple Cycle: May 2009.
    • Combined Cycle: August 2011.

Solar thermal station in creams capacity of about 140 MW:

  • The project is one of the projects that have been implemented at the level of Africa in Morocco, Algeria and Egypt and depends mainly on the correlation of the combined cycle with the solar field. The project contributes to the formation of national technical cadres capable of dealing with this technology.
  • The project capacity is 140 m, of which 20 m is solar.
  • A total area of 640 square meters and a total of 1920 solar complexes. A solar complex with 53760 mirrors.
  • Total cost: about US $ 340 million.
  • Domestic manufacturing in the solar component is about 50%.
  • Commercial operation started as of 1/7/2011.
